Not surprisingly, challenges go = hand-in-hand with such quick growth, but our founders, board members, = advisors, core team, teachers and volunteers have confronted the = learning curve head-on with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, = ultimately generating successful outcomes. I can easily say, as = Founder, and now Chairman of the Board, that this is one of the most = exciting projects on which I have ever been involved. The group of = selfless, giving people that I encounter on a daily basis is both = encouraging and heartwarming. They bring their talents, time, money, = effort and energy with a generous spirit that is unmatched, while never = asking for anything in return. I am honored to be connected to such an = astonishing group. Outside of our doors, and in the local = business community, My Possibilities has been embraced by churches and = the private sector through donations of time, funds and much needed = resources. And branching further out, we are also being touched by = local organizations with whom we are collaborating. They are making an = impact on our growth, skill development and positive encouragement for = our HIPsters. These organizations have opened doors of opportunity for = My Possibilities in a variety of ways. They have allowed our HIPsters = to experience on-site volunteering, provided open use of their = facilities and/or have offered access to their professional expertise = and services, all at no cost to our program. Among our celebrity visits, we have had the honor of = being visited by: =C2=B7 Judge Copeland from Collin = Country probate court =C2=B7 Former Mayor, Pat Evans =C2=B7 Current Mayor, Phil Dwyer =C2=B7 Congressman, Sam Johnson =C2=B7 CEO of Channel 11, Steve = Mauldin =C2=B7 United Way And if our celebrity visits weren't = enough, My Possibilities was invited to the last legislative session in = Austin, where lobbyist, Ben Campbell presented to the floor, My = Possibilities as a community based solution. As a follow-on, the MP = Board has gone on to share our story with many parent groups from all = parts of the country on how to initiate a My Possibilities program in = their respective areas. The tours have met with eager ears and = positive action. =20 As a boost to our efforts, we have been = featured in the media on several occasions, specifically showcasing our = program and, more importantly, our parents, HIPsters and partners. Some = of the media who have featured us include: =C2=B7 Channel 8 =C2=B7 CBS 11 =C2=B7 Plano profile =C2=B7 Neighbors Go While everyday is an adventure and brings = new excitement, one of our big moments in 2009 was the day we received = our new bus. Through a very generous donation by Dr Pepper Snapple = (DPSG), our HIPsters would now become mobile. Mr. Larry Young, = President and CEO of DPSG, drove the bus right up to the entrance of our = building. It was very exciting for all of us, but especially so for the = HIPsters. It is still the topic of conversation within the hallways. = Having the bus has been extremely liberating, allowing us to get = involved in community events and expose our HIPsters to new experiences. As Chairman of the board my Focus and that = of the board for My Possibilities in 2010 is to hire an Executive = Director, continue to expand the board of directors, expand our advisory = board, hire qualified and experienced staff that will help our program = grow in terms of what we can offer at My Possibilities, in order to = fulfill our vision of making My Possibilities the best program in Collin = County.
