Vocational

Vocational Pathways

The MP Vocational program consists of diversified pathways designed to expand on the varied interests of our HIPsters.  These new pathways provide opportunities for HIPsters to explore and discover their interests in vocation, leadership, continued education and volunteering in the community. After participating in the intro level class, Individualized Discovery, HIPsters will pick the pathway that fits their interests, and begin on their own, personalized journey.

Vocational Education

If a paid position is the HIPster’s goal, then the next step is applying to our Vocational Education program. The courses offered in our Vocational Education program help refine the skills of our HIPsters that they will need to find and keep a job. HIPsters enrolled in Vocational Education courses will explore interests, build stamina and reiterate the work expectations needed to obtain and retain a paid position in the community. They will then move on to campus and community job exploration to expand their knowledge of various environments and job skill sets. In addition, HIPsters can access our LaunchAbility Career Services program, and may partner with Texas Workforce Commission, in order to work one-on-one with an employment consultant to be assessed, placed and coached in an integrated community employment position while being paid at or above minimum wage.

LaunchAbility Career Services

We offer one-on-one employment consultation for all individuals with disabilities in North Texas through our LaunchAbility Career Services program. These services are individualized and focus on preparing for, securing and maintaining employment opportunities for adults with a variety of disabilities and other barriers to employment. Respect, dignity and the belief in the rights of all persons to be welcomed and included in the fabric of their communities, drive our rehabilitation services. Our knowledgeable and professional staff provide employment planning and preparation, job development, training, and coaching to ensure each individual achieves his/her employment goals. Staff receives intensive and on-going training focused on person-centered techniques, positive behavior supports, individual choice, and advocacy. We work for our clients as partners, helping develop dreams and assist in overcoming obstacles.
