Soap Hope moves warehouse from Dallas to Plano
PLANO, TX – Oct. 20, 2020 – My Possibilities’ MPact, PBC affiliate Soap Hope moves fulfillment and shipping center to Plano. My Possibilities and Soap Hope will host an outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony and small group guided tours* Thursday, Oct. 28.
My Possibilities provides continuing education and vocational training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Soap Hope, an online retailer, offers thousands of natural home and body care products for home delivery, serving customers throughout the U.S.
Soap Hope serves as curriculum and job training for MP students or HIPsters, Hugely Important People. Soap Hope also employs individuals with disabilities in various roles; warehouse stocking, shipping and assembly. The online retailer believes the disabilities community deserves the same right to equality in employment opportunities as any other group. Currently, Soap Hope employs two HIPsters, Jake and Cathi, and actively hosts 13-week HIPster Academy internships.
During the 13-week HIPster Academy internship, HIPsters who are actively enrolled at MP gain first-hand work experience at Soap Hope. HIPsters are responsible for bottling and labeling Soap Hope Collection hand sanitizer and other house brand products, as well as filling each online order and stocking the warehouse.
“We are very excited to officially call Plano, home,” said Kate Knight, director of MPact for My Possibilities. “This move will attract more HIPsters to participate in the academy internships to learn the inner workings of employment in a fulfillment center.”
“Soap Hope is our first MPact partner and subsequently the first to move to Plano,” said Michael Thomas, executive director for My Possibilities. “Our campus plans accommodate a full retail plaza, housing many local businesses that will provide HIPsters with job opportunities.”
For those attending the ribbon cutting, event details are as follows:
9:30 a.m. Ribbon cutting ceremony
9:45 Guided tours begin in groups of four
*Guided tours occur in time slots to accommodate social distancing.
