Employment Innovations School

Employment Innovations School (EIS) is the vocational training program at My Possibilities that prepares HIPsters for employment through hands-on learning, classroom instruction, and community-based experiences.

EIS focuses on building both workplace readiness and job-specific skills through individualized learning experiences designed around each HIPster’s strengths, interests, and goals. Throughout the program, HIPsters develop communication, teamwork, time management, workplace expectations, and confidence while exploring potential career pathways.

Through industry partnerships, real-world learning opportunities, and employment-focused training, EIS helps HIPsters build the skills needed for long-term employment success.

How EIS Works

The Employment Innovations School includes several learning environments designed to meet HIPsters where they are in their development. These are not separate programs, but different ways HIPsters can build skills, explore career interests, and prepare for employment.

Build Foundational Skills

Pre-vocational courses focus on communication, following instructions, time management, social interaction, and basic task completion in structured settings.

Develop Work Readiness

General vocational courses build independence through hands-on learning, career exploration, resume development, interview preparation, and workplace expectations.

Explore Career Pathways

Industry-specific tracks allow HIPsters to focus on areas such as Culinary Arts, Facilities, Hospitality, Retail, and Administrative Support.

Apply Skills in Real Settings

As HIPsters progress, they move from classroom-based learning into hands-on practice, work-based learning, and community-based internship experiences.

HIPsters in tracks attend EIS three days a week, with two days focused on their chosen track and one day dedicated to continued soft skill development. Tracks build from classroom learning toward applied experience and may lead to a certificate of completion.

Explore Career Pathways

HIPsters can pursue specialized training through career pathways that align with their interests, strengths, and employment goals.

Culinary Arts

The Culinary Arts program provides HIPsters practical training in food preparation, service, and customer relations. This space empowers HIPsters with the skills and confidence necessary to pursue successful careers in the food service industry.

Facilities

Our Facilities Lab provides hands-on training in the areas of facilities, environmental services, groundskeeping, and basic maintenance.

Retail

Our Retail Lab provides hands-on training in customer service, inventory management, operating a POS system, and fulfilling online orders for entry-level customer service and retail jobs. HIPsters will have the opportunity for paid internships in our on-campus retail endeavors.

Administrative Support

Our Administrative Lab focuses on hands-on training related to administrative services, mail room operations, and general office support.

Hospitality

Our Hospitality Lab provides training for jobs including corporate and hospitality reception, hotel event planning, set up, housekeeping, and host/hostessing. HIPsters will have the opportunity for paid internships in our on-campus reception area.

Work-Based Learning Experiences

Work-based learning is a core part of EIS and is available across all levels of the program. These experiences give HIPsters opportunities to apply skills in real environments while building confidence, independence, and workplace readiness.

Examples of Work-Based Learning

Print Shop

Gain hands-on experience in production, organization, and workplace processes.

MP Café

Build customer service, teamwork, and hospitality skills in a real operating café.

Facilities

Develop practical experience through campus maintenance and environmental services projects.

Community-Based Job Exploration

Explore careers, industries, and workplace expectations through experiences in the community.

Community Volunteer Opportunities

Practice workplace skills while serving community organizations.

These opportunities help HIPsters discover interests, build confidence, and prepare for future employment.

Employment Consultants and the eMPloy Network

When a HIPster is ready to pursue employment, they are not on their own. My Possibilities Employment Consultants provide one-on-one support every step of the way, from job searching and resume development to interview preparation and on-the-job coaching, continuing until both the HIPster and employer feel confident in the role.

HIPsters are connected to opportunities through the eMPloy Network, our community of employer partners committed to inclusive hiring. All roles within the eMPloy Network are competitive, integrated employment positions, and hiring decisions are made by employers based on qualifications and fit.

Employment Consultant services are available through Texas Workforce Commission Vocational Rehabilitation (TWC-VR) funding or private pay. To learn more or get started, contact employmentservices@mptx.org.
