HIPster. noun. Hugely Important People. Our students. The people who attend My Possibilities are more than a label. They are people with an important role to play in society.
My Possibilities is a 501(c)(3) for cause organization serving adults with disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Asperger’s, Prader-Willi, head injuries and more. My Possibilities is the first full-day, full-year educational program of its kind in Collin County.
My Possibilities is designed to provide people with cognitive disabilities the chance to continue their education. We provide vocational skills, socialization opportunities, trade skills, and independent living skills to HIPsters that give them the chance to live the life they deserve.
In 2006, Charmaine Solomon’s son with special needs was set to “graduate” high school. As she and her friends began looking into opportunities for their children, they discovered there was nothing in North Texas that provided quality, full-time continued education for their children’s unique needs. They needed a place that gave their children the tools to grow and discover the potential they had to live full, independent lives. After working together and getting their community involved, My Possibilities opened in June of 2008.
My Possibilities gives adults with disabilities a real college experience. With the new Campus for Higher Learning, HIPsters all over the country are gaining exactly what they deserve: a future.
