Thank you for your interest in volunteering at My Possibilities (MP). Whether as an individual or with a corporate or civic group, there are great ways to utilize your gifts and make a difference.
We want to make your volunteer experience at MP a good one. There are three central elements that make volunteering at MP a different experience:
Education
Our goal is to send you away with additional knowledge and insight into the lives of those living with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD).
Experience
Seeing the world and people from a different point of view. Exposure leads to empathy, which in turn creates compassion.
Impact
Your time and efforts make a difference here at MP and beyond.
Day of Inclusion (DOI)
A DOI is our signature volunteer offering for groups. Spend a morning or afternoon in the Center for Lifelong Learning. Tour the program and then join a class with our HIPsters. This two-hour experience offers valuable HIPster interaction and will challenge the way you see the world.
HIPster Life Activities
Join us for a variety of engaging activities with our HIPsters. HIPster Life Activities usually occur outside of work hours and are very fun! Activities include dances, bowling, and more.
Special Events
Bring your team to one of our signature events, and help with things like greeting, directional assistance, meal distribution, event logistics, decorations, and more.
Community Ball | HIPster Golf Classic | North Texas Giving Day
Special Olympics and Unified Soccer League
Join us and cheer on our athletes. Volunteer opportunities for groups include support for events and competitions.
HIPster Engagement
We can create a custom project opportunity with our HIPsters for groups who have already completed a DOI. Ideas include Valentine’s activities, cookie decorating, games, and more.
Lunch Cafe Support
Assist by monitoring the lunchroom while socializing with HIPsters. One- to two-hour shifts available from 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Monday – Friday. Must complete volunteer documents and sign our confidentiality agreement.
Special Events
Each year, we host the following events – Community Ball, HIPster Golf Classic, and North Texas Giving Day. These events are great opportunities to give your time and talents to MP. From behind-the-scenes, to event logistics, we are always looking for dedicated and motivated volunteers.
Availability is based on the respective event schedule and needs. Must complete volunteer documents, and sign our confidentiality agreement. If volunteering with HIPsters, one must pass a criminal background check.
Community-Based Instruction (CBIs)
A CBI is when HIPSters go beyond the walls of MP and into the community for learning, engagement, and fun. Join an MP staff member and accompany HIPsters on engaging adventures in the community.
Availability is based on the CBI schedule each semester. Must complete volunteer documents, sign a confidentiality agreement, volunteer for two hours in lunchroom support, and pass a criminal background check.
HIPster Life Activities
Dances, parties, and bowling are just some of the activities that are offered to our HIPsters. Join the staff and hang out with our incredible HIPsters!
Availability is based on the event calendar each semester. Must complete volunteer documents, sign a confidentiality agreement, volunteer for two hours in lunchroom support, and pass a criminal background check.
Special Olympics and Unified Soccer League
We are always looking for coaches, assistant coaches, cheerleaders, and support volunteers for our athletes. Unified Soccer provides a chance to play if you are interested! Must complete volunteer documents, sign a confidentiality agreement, and pass a criminal background check.
Program Assistance
Assist our staff in teaching a class. Interact with HIPsters as they learn and help facilitate as needed by the program instructor.
Availability is based on the class schedule each semester. Most classes are one-two hours in length. Must complete volunteer documents, sign a confidentiality agreement, volunteer for two hours in lunchroom support, and pass a criminal background check.
