My Possibilities COVID-19 Healthy and Safety Plan for Reopening
As we continue to navigate COVID-19 and the nation begins to reopen, we want to provide an update on how My Possibilities is preparing to welcome our HIPsters home. MP is reopening June 1. We are thrilled to open our doors and begin to see the MP Campus for Higher Learning come back to life, but we are committed to doing so in a measured, safe, and informed manner that continues to protect the health and safety of our HIPsters and staff.
Throughout our temporary closure, our staff has planned for this day. All families have been surveyed to assess their HIPster’s needs, questions and concerns, and their desired timeline to return to Campus. Additionally, we have created a health and safety plan to guide our reopening. The plan adheres to state guidelines as well as CDC recommendations for social distancing, cleaning, and protective equipment protocol. Our reopening will occur in a phased approach, with Phase I involving 25 percent of our enrolled HIPsters. We anticipate being back to regular business operations by the fall.
This reopening is an important step for MP, our HIPsters, their families, and our staff. It is also an important step for our Champions who support the ongoing work we do to courageously and relentlessly pursue the full, untapped possibilities of our HIPsters, making every day count. We thank all the individuals, corporations, and foundations that stepped up to provide resources while we were closed. Your commitment to MP is something we do not take for granted, but it is also something we will continue to need as we move forward.
This crisis hit us all hard. While MP continues to weather the storm, the impacts of our closure will be felt for the rest of 2020, and likely beyond. We continue to face a financial shortfall of $1 million due to our inability to run our traditional programs and receive State funds. We canceled a major fundraiser and postponed and reimagined another. We also had to push back the groundbreaking of our newest building to expand our work and house our LaunchAbility Career Services programming. However, we know the future of MP is bright. We look forward to the day we can welcome you all back to campus in person, to feel the love you have for MP and our HIPsters in a tangible way, and give you a fist bump, high five, or even a hug as soon as we can.
Please contact us with any questions or how you can help as we reopen.
